On June 2, 2024, an event took place in the village of Kuntuu at the Museum of Post-Totalitarian Art! Exhibition “BIZ, SKY, BAYRAKTAR, ИСКУССТВО”.
The title speaks for itself. It’s about us, the clear sky above, our banners, and art. It explores what art is and what it should be in the present moment. The following objects were presented: installations, performances, paintings and environment. The project’s motto is: art against totalitarianism, extremism, and confrontation. It stands for tolerance, diversity, and social harmony! For artistry and spirituality! The museum space is considered a work of art, and the artworks are inseparable from the environment.
TOLON MUSEUM is about forming a unique museum of post-totalitarian art. The Museum has been operating for over 20 years and, since January 2011, as a public fund. It regularly collaborates with the network of schools under the BILIMKANA foundation. Partners of the museum have included the Swiss Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, the Goethe-Institut, the HIVOS foundation, and the Open Society Foundation.
TOLON MUSEUM has implemented over 60 projects of various levels. These projects have included seminars, master classes, and art residencies. Recently, TOLON MUSEUM has focused on implementing scientific, educational, and scholarship programs based on individual methodologies.
Currently, the museum is located in the village of Kuntuu, five kilometers from the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bishkek, in the spaces of a former industrial enterprise.
